Detailed description

Wilmington Municipal Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Wilmington Municipal Golf Course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 to provide the public with a quality, championship 18 hole golf course at affordable prices. In 1989, the golf course bunkers were restored and renovated in keeping with the original Donald Ross design. In 2009, the course was named #50 in Golf Week's list of best municipal golf courses in the country.

The course is fairly wide open, but there are some trees that can alter your shots. The elevated greens are slightly sloped and fairly well bunkered. The course has very few fairway bunkers, and those that exist are usually located approximately 100 to 120 yards out from the green. The signature hole is #18, a 430-yard, par 4, requiring uphill shots that usually play into the wind.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,564 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,978 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 519 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 147 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 12, a 519 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Wilmington Municipal Golf Course is # 8, the 147 yard par-3.
