Eagle Crest Golf Course is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Eagle Creek first opened in 1999. At that time, the facility had 27 holes. They offered a 9-hole course and an 18-hole course.
The nine hole design had large greens and wide, open fairways. There were no sand bunkers and two or three water hazards. The 9-hole course catered mainly to beginning players. The 9-hole course closed in 2008.
The eighteen hole course offered a multitude of water hazards in the form of ponds, creeks, and streams. The abundance of trees created many obstacles and therefore called for precision golfing.
The eighteen hole course became a 9-hole hole course in 2017 with the closing of the back nine,
The signature hole is #4, a 350-yard, par 4, featuring creeks on the right and left sides as well as in front of and behind the green. A large number of trees also makes for a difficult approach shot.
The course has steadily shrunk along with the number of rounds played. This is a classic case of fewer dollars in revenue means fewer dollars in maintenance which mean fewer golfers. This is a classic case of a golf course death spiral.
