Shawnee Golf & Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Shawnee , Oklahoma
Shawnee Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1929. The original nine holes were designed by Perry Maxwell. In 1980 it was time for a course re-design, though still nine holes, Bruce Devlin completed the work. In 1997 the membership sold ownership of the Club to private investors. That same year, in addition to the completion of a new Clubhouse and residential development surrounding the course and the 10 acre practice facility, the golf course was re-designed, and expanded to 18 holes by golf course designer Bland Pittman.
The course was built on very rolling terrain and has out-of-bounds stakes lining all its holes. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on six holes. The large greens are sloped.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,696 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,344 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 516 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 175 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 403 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 14, a 497 yard par-5.
