Islington Golf Club is a private 18 hole golf course located in Islington, Ontario.
Stanley Thompson designed the course which first opened for play in 1923.
This very challenging course has an abundance of mature trees, which isolate each of the holes from one another. The fairways are rather narrow and undulating. Many of the greens are elevated. There are several two and three-tiered greens and all are fast.
The signature hole is #16, a 345-yard, par 4, which requires an elevated tee shot down to the fairway, then a second shot over a cliff to a two-tiered green.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,488 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,523 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 542 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 144 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 11, the 542-yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Islington Golf Club is # 6, the 144 yard par-3.
