Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is a resort 72-hole golf facility located in Bandon, Oregon. The facility has four world class 18-hole golf courses. The courses are the Bandon Dunes, Bandon Dunes Course, Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes Course, Bandon Dunes, Pacific Trails Course, and Bandon Dunes, Old Macdonald Course. Some say that there is no other place on earth that has as much outstanding and drop-dead gorgeous golf as Bandon, Oregon. Bandon has four courses ranked by golf pundits and players alike as among the best of the best. Bandon Dunes Golf Resort was created and financed by greeting card baron Mike Keiser.
These four distinctly different courses occupy a beautiful stretch of sand dunes perched 100 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes feature a dozen holes that run along the bluff overlooking 23 miles of sweeping, undisturbed shoreline. Bandon Trails begins on a massive dune, works its way through open meadows and upland forest, and then finishes in the dunes. Old Macdonald moves through dune to ocean revealing breathtaking views throughout.
Bandon Dunes, Brandon Trails Course __________
The Bandon Dunes, Brandon Trails Course was this third of the four courses. The Brandon Trails Course opened in 2005. The course was designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore.
Bandon Trails Golf course gets mixed reviews. Although Crenshaw and Coore did a great job, some say they were given the least impressive property at Bandon and did the best that was possible with what they had. But Bandon Trails is just not in the same league as its siblings, Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes.
That is not to say that The Trails doesn't have some excellent holes, it does! Some standout, particularly on the front nine, but some of the holes on the back (Nos. 14 and 16 come to mind) will have you scratching your head. And remember, we're comparing this course with world class neighbors.
The Bandon Trails Golf Course measures 6,775 yards from the tips and plays to a par-71.
