Agate Beach Golf Course is a nine hole course located a short distance from the Pacific Ocean. First opened for play in 1931. The course was designed by Frank Stenzel.
Agate Beach Golf Course boasts a fairly level, well manicured, slightly rolling terrain. Surrounded by a lush wooded area, Agate Beach is a pleasure to play. The greens are well groomed and provide a great putting surfaces. In addition, the excellent drainage and capability for year round golfing make Agate Beach an excellent course for all season play.
Easy to walk and picturesque, the course offers both the beginner and the seasoned golfer enjoyment for this favorite course of many coastal weekenders. The slope is 107 with a rating of 66.0 for men, while for women the course's slope is 109 and rating is 69.4. The total distance from the ladies tee is 2,894 yards for a par of 38. The total distance from the men's tee is 3,002 yards for a par of 36. The course record set by Doug Skille in 1993 is 62. Head golf professional Terry Martin says his favorite part of the course is the eighth hole, par 3, which his father Bill constructed in 1960. Number eight is a 115 yard hole with towering fir and hemlock trees. The challenging green is guarded by a large bunker. This hole serves as a memorial to Bill Martin, who passed away in 1995.
