Detailed description

Rock Creek Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Portland, Oregon.

Rock Creek Country Club golf course first opened for play in 1962. The course was designed by William Sander. As the Rock Creek development (started in the late 1950s) began to grow, the course was designed and built to aid in marketing and sales of the new homes. The developers envisioned a public golf club featuring inexpensive golf with a private golf club attitude.

Rock Creek Country Club started quietly as a nine-hole public golf course built on lush pastures of the Rock Creek community. The second nine was opened a year after the opening of the first nine.

The first clubhouse was off the 13th green and included a small pro shop. Later, a second group of investors purchased the golf facility and the course was officially incorporated around 1975 to become private. The years that followed saw many improvements. The practice area was revamped, the clubhouse was built and later a separate pro shop. The front nine and back nines were reversed. The Oregon Open was played at RCCC in 1980. It was won by Doug Campbell who fired a score of 206 (10 under par) for the 3 days.

The golf course was sold about 10 years later and subsequently owned for the next 20 years by the same family. Rock Creek Country Club was purchased by the current owners in May of 2001. They have made continued improvements to the clubhouse and golf course. Improved course maintainance and course conditioning thoughout the season, makes for great playability.

The par 72 layout plays to 6,700 yards. The course rating is 72.7 and the slope rating is 131.
