Located on 117 acres, historic Fern Hall is a gracious country inn with bright spacious guest rooms. Fern Hall's history is unique. The land of Fern Hall was granted to Samuel Meredith, the first Treasurer of the United States. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was the seller for five shillings and the deal was handled by Benjamin Franklin.
In the 1820s the family of Sylvester Johnson, farmers from Connecticut, purchased the land and settled here on Crystal Lake. Three of the offspring, James, Robert and Edward Mead went on to found the Johnson & Johnson Company of Pharmaceutical fame. In 1916 James built his family retreat known as Fern Hall.
Today, Fern Hall is home to a restaurant, Bed & Breakfast, and the Clubhouse of Scottish Glen, the scenic nine-hole daily fee golf course on the property.
