Ponderosa Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Hookstown, in Western Pennsylvania’s rolling hills, just a few miles from the West Virginia border.
The course dates to its opening in 1965. The course was designed and built by the property owner, Herbert Heinlein.
The fairways are generous in landing areas. Water comes into play on seven holes. The greens are of medium size and speed.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,370 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5763 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 538 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 161 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 414-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 14, a 164 yard par-3.
