Grand View Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in North Braddock, Pennsylvania.
Grand View Golf Club first opened for play in 1996. Perched precariously on a hillside overlooking the site of British Gen. Edward Braddock's ill-fated cross of the Monongahela River in 1755, Grand View Golf Club was designed by renowned Western Pennsylvania architect Ferdinand Garbin.
The course sits on a bluff with grand views of the Monongahela River. The layout offers spectacular panoramic views overlooking a wide expanse of the Mon Valley. This hilly course has gently rolling fairways, smooth-rolling greens, and natural terrain that favors a variety of playing skills. It will test the shotmaking ability of accomplished golfers, requiring course knowledge in shot placement, yet it will be kind to the average golfer who simply wants to enjoy a pleasant, relaxing round of golf.
The course opens with a scenic, 316-yard, par 4, requiring an accurate tee shot to a downhill sloping fairway. The second shot is a short iron to a large, level green.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,111 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,817 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 542 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 123 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 8, a 522-yard par-5 challenge, and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 14, a 160 yard par-3.
Golfers will hear sounds in the background coming of the first-ever and last operating steel mill in the area — Edgar Thompson Steel Works. The sounds offer players quite an unusual, unique – and sometimes noisy – backdrop for a round of golf.
