Detailed description

Somerset Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Somerset golf course opened for play in 1921 as a 9-hole course. The back nine was added in 1986 and was designed by Ferdinand Garbin.

The layout take full advantage of the rolling hills and natural elevation changes to test your skills. Strategically placed bunkers and water hazards add to the complexity. With its elevated views down to the town of Somerset, the driving range makes practicing your swing a pleasant pastime.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,660 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,992 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 568 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees. The hole plays uphill and is guarded by bunkers. The front half of the green slopes towards the front with the back half flattening out.

Watch out for # 8, a 415 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The longest par four on the course. A tee shot hit to the left side of the fairway will leave you with a great look onto the green. A pond will come into play for the long hitters. The second shot will be hit into a green that slopes back–to-front with a bunker on the right. The hole plays longer than it measures.

The easiest hole is # 18, a 535 yard par-5. This closing hole par five is straight away and can lead to a closing par or birdie for the long ball hitters. The green is flat with a bunker on the left side.
