The course was designed by Rees Jones. Gator Hole opened for play in 1980.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,045 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,685 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 565 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 165 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 12, a 565 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 5, a 170 yard par-3.
Gator Hole Golf in North Myrtle Beach closed in 1999 and became the site of Gator Hole Plaza, a shopping center anchored by Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
