Persimmon Hill Golf Club first opened for play in 1963. The course was designed by Russell F. Breedon.
The entire golf course at Persimmon Hill Golf Club is surrounded by water. Every green is large and undulating, so three-putting is a common occurrence. Six spring-fed lakes come into play on five different holes. Locals claim the hole that will test you the most is #8, a 500-yard, par 5, because of the severity of the water hazard bordering the hole. The finishing hole is a 630-yard, a par 5, which is South Carolina's longest hole.
The golf course at Persimmon Hill Golf Club plays to a par-72 and 6,925 yardsfrom the tips. The course rating is 73.1 and the slope rating is 129.
