Old Tabby Links
The Old Tabby golf course first opened for play in 1993. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer & Ed Seay.
The golf course at Old Tabby Links is a links-style course is the ultimate retreat for discriminating golfers. The design winds through marsh and live oak forests, and foxes and alligators are not uncommon hazards. The fairways are flat, and the large greens possess some undulation. There are also a couple of rivers that flow throughout this course, but they don't come into play. However, there are ponds that do come into play on two holes.
The front nine weaves through a 150-year-old live oak forest. #9 is one of the best risk reward par fives you will find anywhere. To the right side of this hole, across a large pond, are the Tabby Ruins, the remnants of the mansion of former proprietor George Edwards.
The back nine presents a totally different look. The first six holes meander through what used to be quail hunting pastures. The last three border the marsh and present magnificent views of the Chechessee River with the Broad River, Parris Island and Port Royal off on the horizon. #17 is the signature hole, it has been ranked as on of the top 18 holes Palmer has created.
The golf course at Old Tabby Links on Spring Island plays to 7,004 yards from the back tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 73.5 and the slope rating is 142.
