Detailed description

River Club on the Ashley, also known as Kings Grant Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Summerville, South Carolina.

River Club on the Ashley opened in 1970. The course was designed by Russell Breeden.

The course is fairly flat, but the greens are slightly elevated. Hole #15 is ranked as one of the top ten holes in the State of South Carolina.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,649 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,900 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 545 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 150 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 7, a 450 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at River Club on the Ashley is # 12, the 150 yard par-3.

Kings Grant subdivision was established in 1970 and one of the big draws to the neighborhood was the golf course, the River Club on the Ashley. But in 2005 the golf course declared bankruptcy and was forced to close its doors much to the dismay of its residents. The new developer, Kings Grant Golf Acquisitions, agreed to assume the debt as part of the redevelopment deal. Redevelopment plans for the course property, approved by Kings Grant's HOA, include building 80 homes on 178 acres with 62 acres allocated for a common park area for the homeowners of Kings Grant.
