Pharaohs Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The course, which opened for play in 1964, was designed by Ralph Plummer.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6187 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5400 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 476 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 170 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, a 476 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 15, a 170 yard par-3.
The course closed for play in July 2010 after losing money for a number of years due to declining play, declining revenue and subsequent decline in upkeep, the spiral of death for a golf course.
As of January 2014 there is news Blackard Global development company plans to develop the property. They would use 40 acres for a European style residential village and retain what was the back 9-holes for a new 9-hole golf course. Seventy-five percent of residents need to approve a change in the property's deed restriction to allow development to move forward.
