Houston Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Houston, Texas.
Houston Country Club dates to 1908 when the Club opened its 18-hole course southeast of downtown. That location remained the Houston Country Club's home and golf course until the 1950's when the Club relocated and a new course was built in the Tanglewood subdivision of Houston. The original 1908 course lives on as the Gus Wortham Golf Course.
Today's Houston Country Club golf course dates to 1956. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.
This heavily-wooded course features wide fairways and elevated greens. Sand bunkers have been incorporated into the design of almost every hole. Water hazards come into play on a few holes.
