Detailed description

The Ambush at Lajitas, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Lajitas, Texas.

The Ambush at Lajitas was designed by architects Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell, and opened for play in October 2002.

The Ambush at Lajitas is a championship eighteen hole golf course and part of the exclusive "Lajitas: The Ultimate Hideout" private resort. Located in the badlands of west Texas within the 22,000 acres of the Chihuahuan Desert,   This challenging track encourages risk-reward play, and there are five sets of tees to ensure the The Ambush provides ample challenge for all skill levels. Over 140 bunkers are strategically located throughout the design, and water comes into play on several holes. The course plays from 5,082 to 7,042-yards, and the club boasts a full complement of amenities and practice facilities to round out the Lajitas experience. Only guests of the resort and club members are allowed to play at Lajitas.

The course boasts that it is an "international" golf course. It has an optional "par one" nineteenth (located between holes #11 and #12) that plays across the Rio Grande to a "south-of-the-border" green - adding an over the border "international" I did it bragging rights to your golf experience.

The course was devastated in the flood of 2007. The course closed.

A new named resort course named Black Jack's Crossing opened near the Abush's location. This new course opened in 2002 and was designed by Lanny Watkins.
