San Jacinto College Golf Course is a Public 9 hole golf course located in Pasadena, Texas.
The course was opened in 1964 as part of the college teaching program but eventually opened as a public course. Water comes into play on six holes. The fairways are lined with trees, and the small greens are undulating.
Par for the course is 36. From the back tees, the course plays to 2,638 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 2,386 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 518 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 144 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 158 yard par-3 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 9, a 144 yard par-3.
The course has the reputation for being a lot of golf for the money. With green fees of $15 or less and pull carts for $3, good for all-day play, the course is a great place to have fun and work on your game.
San Jacinto College Golf Course closed on December 15, 2016.
The college cited rising operating costs and a declining number who use the course for its decision to close down the course.
“While this is a difficult decision given the history of this course, we realize that the golf course is not part of our mission. We appreciate your past patronage and understanding,” a message from the school partly reads in the course’s humble little pro shop.
