The golf course is very unique with its rolling fairways and tabletop greens framed by red sand and lava-filled desert surrounds. The approach shots for the most part are reasonable. There are some nice elevation changes from tee to fairway, and from fairway to green. The incredible panoramic view from the many elevated tees makes focusing on the shot at hand challenging. This is especially true on the 1st, 5th, 17th, and 18th holes as you marvel at the striking beauty of the twisted red rock landscape that gives Sky Mountain its name.

Some claim the Sky Mountain driving range is the prettiest you will ever see. You will be hitting to a severe downhill slope that drops off. Spectacular red rock formations can be seen in the distance.
