Detailed description

Palisade State Park Golf Course is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Sterling, Utah.

Palisade State Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1972. The course was designed by Richard Bigler.

Many golfers agree that Palisade State Park Golf Course is one of Utah's best-kept golf secrets. Hidden in the geographic center of Utah, Palisade is a beautiful mountain course with towering trees, stunning vistas of the surrounding Sanpete County, and breathtaking views of Palisade Reservoir. The mountain layout has an elevation change of 230 feet from 5885 feet at the base to 6115 at the top. The course is maintained in great condition and is both fun and challenging for all levels of golfers.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6360 yards. The course plays longer because all the par-5s play uphill. From the forward tees the course measures 5324 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 532 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 96 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 10, a 532 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 8, a 128 yard par-3.

Though its expansive undulating greens are truly a test, the greatest challenge may be signature hole number 4. This 179-yard par-3 has an elevation drop of 70 feet and requires golfers to carry the ball over a canyon, and land it precisely on the green. A ball hit too long will hit into the mountain behind the green and ricochet anywhere. On the other hand, a ball hit too short will certainly come to rest in the canyon below. The Salt Lake Tribune has likened this hole to the famous 12th at Augusta National and the Deseret News had it on its "Best Holes" list for 2005.
