Detailed description

Bellows Falls Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Bellows Falls, Vermont.

The course first opened for play in 1923.

The course is hilly with numerous swales and mini-ridges playing off the main hill. There are also greenside and fairway bunkers and even a little water to make the course interesting. Playing the white tee markers on your first nine and the blue tee markers on your second round of nine, the course provides a good workout at just under 5,900 yards. (That's 3.4 miles if you hit the ball straight.) They also provide separate red and gold tees for our women players, and they use the gold tees for seniors.

Bellows Falls claimes to have have one of the best opening holes in Vermont. The first fairway is bordered by the second and ninth fairways, and they are all in play. Some of the holes whave great "character" that will demand your focus during your round of golf.

Their number two hole is a 529 yard par 5 that rolls from the tee to a completely hidden green in a basin about two stories deep. (The members usually wander to the left of the clubhouse before teeing off to determine the position of the flagstick.) Although early in the season the banks around the green act as a funnel, during the summer the rough is kept thick to prevent miss-hit balls from rolling onto the green.

The "Canyon" hole is a 164 yard par 3 over all kinds of trouble. A drop zone, however, will prevent you from a walk on the wild side or returning to the Pro Shop for more golf balls. The finishing hole is a par 5 that requires an uphill tee shot. At about 430 yards some will make it in two if they can avoid the sand that almost encloses the hole.

Using the white and blue tees, the course has a slope of 117 and a rating of 68.5. It is a great course for the average golfer.

They are open every day between early April and October 31. The public is welcome. They do not require tee times although it is best to call ahead for play in the afternoons and weekends. Walking is always permissible and golf carts are available for rental
