Detailed description

Hanover Golf Club, prior to 2018 was a private course named Hanover Country Club. As of February 2018, the course is Semi-Private. This 18 hole golf course located in Ashland / North Richmond, Virginia.

The Hanover Golf course opened for play in 1953 with 3 holes, by 1959 18 holes were in play. The course was designed by Dick Lane. In 2009 the course was redesigned by Tom Clark.

This 6,679-yard par 71 course offers challenging play and some of the most scenic landscapes Hanover County has to offer. The course winds through the foothills alongside the South Anna River and Stagg Creek.

Unlike most Richmond area courses that have fairly flat terrain, the Hanover front nine has elevation changes more typical of courses in the Shenandoah Valley.  Many holes drop and rise a couple of club length differences. The first 10 holes require target golf precision. There are difficult forced carries, small landing areas, and plenty of slopes. All of the elevation changes starts to make a little more sense when you realize that the back nine drops down to a low part of the property along the South Anna River.

Most of the back nine is fairly flat with parallel holes. These holes are separated by trees and many require a draw or fade on the tee shot to get around them. So, even the flat holes will demand your attention.

The medium sized greens are well manicured and putt true.
