Blue Ridge Shadows golf course first opened for play in March 2007. The golf course was designed by Thomas E. Clark.
Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Clubhas been named one of the finest upscale daily fee public golf courses in Virginia. The golf course is located in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Skyline Drive and the scenic Shenandoah Valley.
The routing takes advantage of some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast - the Shenandoah Valley. Holes are sited through hardwood forests, split fairways, double greens, elevation changes and a 60 foot waterfall!
The first hole really sets the tone for the course. Set atop a small knoll, your view of Skyline Drive is great, but you also face a split fairway, (aim for the right). The downhill second shot must find the green instead of the pond on the left of the green. As you make your way around the front nine, you'll hit a variety of shots.
Moving onto 10 brings a 100 foot drop in elevation with two water hazards flanking the hole. Once your tee shot finds the fairway, you can breathe a little easier, although just for a short while.
The golf course at Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club plays to 7,315 yards from the back tees. The course rating is a whopping 75.5 with a slope rating of 143. Par is 72.
With 5 sets of tees from 4,909 -7,340 yards, Blue Ridge Shadows is enjoyable and challenging for the novice golfer, the more seasoned amateur as well as professional players. It's a Mid-Atlantic golfer's delight.
