Detailed description

The Club at Ironwood, previously named Country Club Of Staunton, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Staunton, Virginia.

The Club traces its roots back to the Staunton Country Club, a 9-hole golf course founded in 1910. The current course at Ironwood was opened in 1968 as the Country Club of Staunton. The 18-hole course was designed by William F. Gordon.

The course is draped across rolling hills with views of the valley and surrounding mountains.  Some consider the side-hill, downhill, and uphill lies as the most difficult aspect of the course. The course will also challenge with narrow fairways and well bunkered greens.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,606 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,338 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 558 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 157 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 558 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 157 yard par-3.
