Detailed description

Trump National Golf Club - River Course, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Sterling, Virginia.

Trump National Golf Club, formerly known as Lowes Island golf club features two extraordinary courses in an idyllic setting along the Potomac River. Many find it hard to believe there is such a magnificent oasis right in the middle of the greater Washington area. Trump National is a sanctuary graced with lakes, wildlife and river views, providing infinite relaxation and enjoyment in a secluded and picturesque environment.

Trump acquired and renamed Lowes Island Golf Club in early 2009. The Club has two 18-hole golf courses. They are the Arthur Hills designed River Course and the Tom Fazio designed Championship Course.

River Course

In 1999, the River Course by Arthur Hills was added to Trump National as a perfect complement to Tom Fazio's Championship Course. With water coming into play on 10 of its 18 holes - including obstacles like wide lakes - this course combines challenging play with breathtaking Potomac River scenery. Varying wind conditions on this open links-style course create changing strategies from one round to the next. This par-72 course stretches 7,006 yards from the championship tees and is a true test of golf skills.

The golf courses at Trump National are comprised of Pennlinks bentgrass greens, tees and fairways while the rough is a mix of fescue, bluegrass and ryegrass.

Championship Course

The Championship Course was designed by Tom Fazio and ranked by Golf Digest as the 10th Best New Private Course in 1994 and the Fifth Best Course in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and it has only become better with age. The par-72 course stretches along lakes and marshes offering expansive views of the Potomac, then winds through a wooded valley laced with streams. Wildlife is abundant, ranging from eagles and heron to deer and red foxes. Large forgiving fairways and greens can be deceptive, surrounded by small, deep and well-placed bunkers. Playing 6,902 yards from the championship tees, the course is enjoyable for both expert and higher handicap golfers.
