Hell's Point Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole resort golf course located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Hell's Point Golf Club first opened for play in 1982. The course was designed by Rees Jones.
Cut out of Virginia pine forest, the course emphasizes strategy, not length. There are sixty-one sculptured sand bunkers and several lakes coming into play throughout the design. The fairways are narrow and the greens are undulating and moderate in speed. It's a straightforward course, with no hidden shots. It's challenging, but not by its length (6,766 yards from the back tees). The course is located on level ground and at sea level, so you don't get a lot of roll
Rains can make the grounds soft. Add to that the natural swamp hazards and you're glad you brought the extra balls. The course meanders through the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
# 5 is an enticing dogleg left with a water.
# 9 is a straight and narrow par 5, with a two-fingered bunker short and right of the round green.
# 13, a mid-length par 4 that has water dipping into the left fairway and continuing to the edge of the green. You can play it safe with a fairway wood off the tee or hit driver over the fairway mound, risking getting lost in the woods.
Hell's Point Golf Course plays to a par-72 and measures 6,766 yards from the back tees.
