Ocean Shores Golf Course

Ocean Shores Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Ocean Shores, Washington.

Ocean Shores Golf Course opened in 1961 as a 6-hole golf course. Two years later three more holes were added to complete a nine-hole track. Then in 1966, during a development boom at Ocean Shores, the current front nine was completed. Singer/actor Pat Boone and Ginny Simms were involved in this phase of development. The course wasa designed by Dan Hixson.

In 1966 Pat Boone started hosting his Celebrity Golf Classic at Ocean Shores. Celebrities such as Clint Eastwood, Joe Namath and Fred MacMurray to name just a few, came to play in this event. This format continued until 1970 when it OSGC became a regular L.P.G.A. Tour stop. Many women's tour stars, such as Kathy Whitworth, Althea Gibson, JoAnne Carner and Patty Berg began building their reputations here.

The course has also hosted such prestigious events as the Northwest Open, and the Pacific Northwest Pro-Am, N.F.L. Celebrity Classics.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,252 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,173 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 521 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 140 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, a 440 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 141 yard par-3.

The front nine includes three par 5s, three par 4s and three par 3s weaving through serene stands of lofty fir, hemlock and cedar trees. Here, accuracy is rewarded more than power. Starting the back nine, you'll immediately notice the change to links-style golf. If you're lucky enough to have some wind you just might think you're in Scotland, playing generous fairways lined with beach grass and water. Ocean Shores a number of elevated greens maintained at a very brisk speed in comparison to most public facilities.
