The Golf Course at Hawks Nest State Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1932. The course was private until 2003 when it was taken over by the West Virginia Stae park System.
This mountain-style course has tree-lined fairways and medium-sized greens that are undulating and moderate in speed. The course is located on Gauley Mountain at an elevation of 1,200 feet. The Hawks Nest course offers beautiful vistas of the New River and Gauley River valleys.
The 9-hole executive course is perfect for a short game but very challenging with tight mountainside fairways and target greens. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when doing a double loop for an eighteen hole round.
