Detailed description

Lawsonia Golf Course -Links, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Green Lake, Wisconsin.

Lawsonia is a championship-quality course reputed as one of the most celebrated and challenging courses in the Midwest. The course first opened for play in 1930 and was designed by William B. Langford.

Since most holes on the Links were built as replicas of Scottish & English golf course holes, its layout strongly resembles courses played in the British Open. Under the direction of architect Ron Forse in 2000, the Links course had 150 trees removed as part of an architectural restoration plan; therefore, it is predominantly treeless. Wind comes into play due to green elevation and wide openness. This classical links tract is full of legends and tales. For example, legend has it that a boxcar was buried under the seventh green to form its huge green elevation. The Links Course took $250,000 to construct in 1930, almost an unheard of cost in those days.

The course features gently rolling terrain; bent grass fairways; multi-tiered, unusually elevated, moderately fast greens that are surrounded by about 90 strategically placed steep bunkers; deep rough; large snaking sand traps

From the Blue tees (6,853 yards), the White tees (6,181 yards) and the Gold tees (5,927 yards) the course is a Par-72. The course is a Par-71 from the 5,078 yards Red tees.
