There were big plans for Tree Acres Golf Course when it closed in 2006. In a truly ambitious undertaking, Scott and Holly Neale of Plover, under the name H20 Development, planned to convert the old Tree Acres Golf Course to a 548-acre development called Centre Lakes, featuring an 18-hole, Bobby Weed-designed golf course, a 306-room hotel and convention center and a huge waterpark. Single-family homesites and condos were also to be offered for sale.
The centerpieces of the new property - which carried an estimated price tag of $230 million, was going be two manmade lakes with stadium seating for 15,000 spectators designed for high-level water-skiing competitions and possibly other events during winter.
As of 2010 (November) the course remains closed and the property is listed for sale with an asking price just under $4 million at $3,950,000.
