Maiya has a strong competitive golf background with 25 years of golf experience and currently teaches golf full time in San Diego. After playing on the boys team in high school, she helped found the girls golf team and was athlete of the year for Mira Mesa High School her sophomore year. A former UCLA Bruin, Maiya played for the women's golf team as a walk-on and turned professional in 2009. After 5 years on and off the professional tours in US and Canada, Maiya discovered her passion for teaching the game and took a position as a teaching professional in the Hamptons, NY. Maiya studied under some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the industry and returned to San Diego to continue to teach and share her passion for the game. Additionally, she has found creative ways to showcase this passion through appearances on tv shows such as the Golf Channel’s Big Break: Sandals, ABC’s Holey Moley, and has competed with her sister Misa on CBS’s The Amazing Race. Maiya continues to grow the game through teaching and online resources, and can be found on social channels as @maiyagolf.
