As a PGA Certified Golf Coach since his graduation from the Professional Golf Management Program at Ferris State University, Scott is an active member of the golf community. He attained his PGA Class “A” status in 1996. Scott’s past experiences as a golf instructor include teaching with a nationally recognized inner-city youth program in Detroit and other PGA of America adult teaching initiatives. Scott taught at Skokie Park District’s premier outdoor double-decker range, the East Bank Club in downtown Chicago, as well as Weber Park Par Three. Scott is a former IPGA Board and Committee Member.Scott currently teaches the Marion County Veterans in the PGA HOPE program. In the summer of 2019, Scott was named Carmel JV Girls Golf Team Coach, the team qualified at the Indiana Girls State Championship finishing in 5th place of 15 teams that competed. Scott also was a 5 year Assistant Golf Coach for Cathedral HS Boys and one season for the Girls golf programs. He is a member of the Skyline Club at OneAmerica Plaza. The Social Business Club has made Scott the club PGA Professional to assist all members,Scott Barla is Honored with the 2019 PGA Indiana Section Player Development Award,In 2014, the PGA Indiana section began recognizing one PGA Professional for extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development. This award considers the PGA Professional’s growth of the game leadership commitment at the Section and National levels and the impact made at the facility.
