John is the Head Golf Professional at Poland Spring Resort in Poland, Maine during the months of May - October. During the months of November - April John runs John King Golf Coaching & Instruction at The Robert Trent Jones Trail Grand National in Opelika, Alabama. As the Head Golf Professional at Poland Spring Resort John coaches players of all levels in private, semi-private, clinic and golf school settings. Along with instruction and coaching, John is also responsible for golf merchandising, tournament management, and member / guest services.. Formerly Director of Instruction and owner of The Golf Performance Studio of Auburn, in Auburn Alabama. An indoor golf training and player development studio utilizing state-of-the-art technology and extensive player programs ranging from a corrective lesson to year round player development and training. A native of Portland, Maine, John has a teaching resume boasting high-end resorts and private country clubs, which span the East Coast from Maine to Florida. Early in his golf career, John was recruited by Ken Venturi for whom he worked for eleven years. John taught for Mr. Venturi at the Ken Venturi Golf Academy at Greenlefe in Haines City, FL; he later moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where he served as the Director of Instruction and owner for the KVGA at Grandover Resort.From 2005 to 2014, John was the Director of Instruction at Saugahatchee Country Club, during his time at SCC John was recognized by the Dixie Section PGA as the Teacher of the Year and Junior Golf Leader in the Alabama Chapter. John was also named as a top teacher in the state by being awarded #3 Top Teacher in the State of Alabama by Golf Digest. John is a Level 2 Certified Plane Truth Golf instructor that constantly strives to become a valuable, more educated professional that enjoys being part of a players improvement. John’s primary focus while working with players is to have accurate and current measures of his student’s golf skills, physicathil capabilities, an effective improvement plan and good goals. John guarantees player improvement while continuing to work within the player’s experience and capabilities.
