Detailed description

Saddle Brook Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Saddle Brook Golf Club first opened for play in 1994. The course was designed by Bob Thompson

Saddle Brook Golf Club is a scenic 18 hole, par 71 parkland course plays from 4,586 to 6,038 yards. The gently rolling fairways are predominantly tree-lined, and each hole has its own set of challenging water hazards, sand bunkers and mounds. Tees are raised, and the medium-sized greens (avg. 5-7,000 sq. ft) are undulating and of moderate speed.

The front nine is more open than the back. The back nine has a shady parkland setting with picturesque tree-lined holes. The course with lots of ponds and lakes. There are five par-3's at Saddle Brook that vary in length from 130 to 190 yards.

#1 is a straightaway par-4, measuring 382 yards from the back tees and 265 from the front. There are bunkers on the left and on your second shot, you'll be hitting past a pond that runs down the left side of the green.

#5 is a par-4 that measures 380 yards from the back and 277 from the front. Avoid the bunkers on your drive. A pond comes into play on the second shot. But the real excitement here is the greens complex. It's what they call their "volcano green" which has a gradual slope taking you up to the putting surface. The green is about 7 to 10 feet above you at one point and the green is surrounded by three to four bunkers cut into the hillside."

#13 is a popular, short par-5 (475 from the back tees and 430 from the front). The fairway is narrow with out-of-bounds on both sides. It's a risk-reward hole because players often try to make the green in two. But if you go to the right, it's tough to make par. You might want to leave your driver in your bag on 13.

#18 is the signature hole at Saddle Brook Golf Club. #18 is a straightforward shorter par-5 (475 yards from the back tees and 415 from the front).

The course closed in 2015 and reopened again in May 2018.

I kind of determine where we play on our 8-10 2 or 3 day trips per year and the internet is usually my guide. Their internet site indicates this course looks a lot better than it actually is. I usually don't like to bash any course, but this course can be a lot better with minor improvements. I liked the layout, especially the front nine. It's not a long course, but some very narrow fairways make it tough. The back nine was in better shape but overall the greens & fairways need work
